The Wexford Foundation looks for opportunities to help deserving agencies make a major impact in their community or make a transformational change in their ability to deliver services to their clients. When these special opportunities arise, the Foundation awards a Major Impact Grant.
The grant to Bluffton Self Help will provide funds of $27,000 to refurbish their Hilton Head facility, formerly The Literacy Center. This includes computers, software, furnishings, lighting, and a welcoming environment in which to carry out educational programs that help adults and families to become self-reliant in the community.
CAPA's mission is to break the destructive cycle of child abuse. The Wexford Foundation grant of $44,000 will be used to purchase their own vehicle and replace expensive rented transportation for 49 foster children traveling to and from their Resource Family and Open Arms Children's Home program.
Second Helpings, an organization that rescues food from supermarkets, restaurants, and stores will soon roll out a new K-12 food recovery program to multiple schools in the area. The $65,000 Wexford grant covered the cost of a refrigerated van to be used by volunteers to carry out this program.
Concern for security at The Children's Center has always been paramount and the Wexford Foundation is proud to give $12,000 to cover the cost of a completely new keypad security and locking system for all entry doors at their Hilton Head site. This is the Foundation's second Major Impact Grant to assist TCC with the safety and security of their facilities.
